金昌Explain the precautions when using drill bits

1. The drill bits of CNC bench drill manufacturers should be packed in specially designed packaging boxes to avoid vibration and collision with each other.

2. When using, take out the drill bit from the packaging box and immediately put it into the spring clamp of the spindle or the tool library for automatic replacement of the drill bit. After use, immediately put it back into the packaging box.

3. To measure the diameter of the drill bit, non-contact measuring instruments such as a tool microscope should be used to avoid contact between the cutting edge and the mechanical measuring instrument, which may cause damage.

4. Some CNC drilling machines use positioning rings, while others do not. For example, if a positioning ring is used, the depth positioning during installation must be accurate. If a positioning ring is not used, the elongation of the drill bit installed on the spindle should be adjusted uniformly. For multi spindle drilling machines, this should be noted to ensure that the drilling depth of each spindle is consistent. If there is inconsistency, it may cause the drill bit to drill onto the table or fail to penetrate the circuit board, resulting in scrap.

5. Usually, a 40x stereo microscope can be used to check the wear of the cutting edge of the drill bit.

6. Regularly check the concentricity of the spindle and spring chuck, as well as the clamping force of the spring chuck. Poor concentricity can cause small diameter drill bits to break and have large apertures. Poor clamping force can result in actual speed not matching the set speed, causing slippage between the chuck and the drill bit.

7. The clamping length of the fixed handle drill bit on the spring chuck is 4-5 times the diameter of the drill handle in order to be firmly clamped.

8. Regularly check the spindle presser foot. The contact surface of the presser foot should be horizontal and perpendicular to the spindle without shaking, to prevent drilling breakage and deviation during drilling.

9. The suction effect of the drilling machine is good, and the suction air can reduce the temperature of the drill bit, while taking away dust to reduce friction and generate high temperatures.

10. The substrate stack, including the upper and lower pads, should be firmly positioned and leveled in a one hole, one slot positioning system on the workbench of the drilling machine. When using adhesive tape, it is necessary to prevent the drill bit from sticking to the tape, causing difficulties in chip removal and breaking the drill bit.

11. When ordering drill bits from CNC bench drill manufacturers, 4% of them should be randomly inspected for compliance during incoming inspection. And 100% examine its notches, abrasions, and cracks with a 10-15 times magnification microscope.

12. Timely re grinding of drill bits can increase their usage and frequency of re grinding, prolong their lifespan, and reduce production costs and expenses. Usually measured using a tool microscope, the wear depth within the full length of the two main cutting edges should be less than 0.2mm. When regrinding, 0.25mm should be removed. A regular fixed shank drill bit can be regraded 3 times, while a shovel head drill bit can be regraded 2 times. Excessive grinding can lead to a decrease in drilling quality and accuracy, resulting in the scrapping of finished circuit boards. Excessive grinding has the opposite effect.

13. When the wear diameter decreases by 2% compared to the original due to wear, the drill bit is scrapped.

14. In general, the manufacturer provides a parameter table for the drilling speed and down speed of the drill bit produced by the factory. This parameter is only for reference, and the actual process personnel need to obtain a drill bit speed and down speed parameter that meets the actual situation through actual use. Usually, there is a difference between the actual parameter and the reference parameter, but the difference is not too much.
